JEDDAH – An indebted retired professor who committed suicide Monday by hanging himself in his house in the Safa District in Jeddah was identified only as a former professor of Islamic Studies at King Abdulaziz University.
The professor, who retired 10 years ago from teaching in KAUs Islamic Studies Department at the College of Arts and Humanities, had a legacy of heavy debts, according to investigators. He had been detained by authorities in Madina over a debt and was released after he paid it, authorities said.
