Grooms-to-be to get advice on married life
Filed under NewsJun 15TAIF – The Charitable Society in Taif is organizing a forum to be attended by 100 husbands-to-be on Tuesday night, to help them with advice on marriage and family life.
The grooms are expected to tie the knot during this summer vacation. The forum was approved by Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, the Emir of Makkah, and is scheduled to continue for two consecutive days.
Dr. Ahmad Al-Sahli, the societys chairman of the board of directors, said these types of events can give the youth information that will enable them to lead happy lives. It can also open the eyes of newly-weds to potential problems and solutions. – Okaz/SG

No-Tobacco Day Events lined up in all regions
Filed under NewsMay 31RIYADH: The Kingdom, in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO), has lined up a series of programs through its 20 health regions to observe World No-Tobacco Day today.
Deputy Governor Prince Abdulaziz Al-Khobairi will inaugurate a weeklong program to observe the day in Makkah.
Al-Khobairi will launch the program at the Ministry of Education in order to reach students, said Dr. Sameer Al-Sabban, supervisor general of the antismoking campaign in Makkah province.

Number of smokers surges
Filed under NewsMay 23JEDDAH: The number of smokers in Saudi Arabia has increased to six million, including 600,000 women, said Naif Al-Saeed, director of the Charitable Society to Combat Smoking in Al-Ahsa province.
He said 45 percent of women smokers in the Kingdom are in the Eastern Province. There are also 772,000 teenage smokers, including intermediate and secondary school students, he added.
Meanwhile, Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed will launch an anti-smoking campaign to enlighten the public on the negative effects of smoking.
